Operation:
All Flex-Kleen pulse-jet collectors operate in essentially
the same manner. Dust laden air enters the dirty
air plenum, hopper, or silo (Arr. I only); heavier
dust particles drop out. The air carrying the remounting
dust particles passes up and around the bag surfaces.
As the air passes through the bags to the inside,
the dust particles ar captured on the bag surface
and in the bag material. The clean air passes up
the inside of the bags, thru the venturis, into
the clean air plenum and is subsequently vented
to the atmosphere or returned to the process.

Cleaning:
A burst of compressed air is used to clean a portion
of the filter bags while the remainder of the
bags continue in operation.
At
pre-selected intervals a diaphragm valve opens,
flooding one of the air distribution pipes above
the bags with compressed air from the supply header.
Holes in the bottom of each distribution pipe
direct the compressed air pulse into a venturi
located in the top of the bag; this momentarily
interrupts the process air flow through the bags
and aspirates filtered air from the clean air
plenum back into the bags, assisting in the cleaning
process.
